Field Trip

The sixth graders went on a field trip to the National Building Museum.  They participated in the Drawing on History Tour.  The students investigated the building and drew sketches of important clues based on the architecture and symbolic plaques and pictures within the building.  The goal of the investigation was to figure out why the building was built over 125 years ago.  Its original purpose was certainly not for a museum.  The students also had to answer history questions along the way to infer why certain aspects of the building were the way they are.  At the end of the investigation all of the students were able to figure out what the original use of the building was and why through the use of their sketches and clues.

International Night

Timber Lane held its annual International Night on Friday, March 2.  The evening began with an International fashion show which featured Timber Lane students.  The students wore traditional clothing from their native countries.  This was followed by performances by a rhythmic gymnastics team and the African drum team from Graham Road Elementary.  The families also had the opportunity to make kites, boomerangs and Mancala games.  The evening concluded with a dance party in the gym and an International food tasting.  This was a fun filled event for all of the families and friends who attended.
